Pictures of Kona (above) and email sent by her family on 05/02/13: Quote "Hi Bonnie, just wanted to send a few pics of Kona for you all to enjoy. She is such a good girl, and has taken right to the schedule of our home life. She is a fearless little thing, and loves to play inside the house and out in the yard. We decided to go out with her in the front yard for now since it is smaller and more enclosed. When she is bigger we'll take her out back--it's too big and open for her right now. She loves to play with Purdy, but her favorite friend so far is Joe. He came for a visit over the weekend and they just loved each other. Her appetite is great, and as long as you take her out around 10 or 10:30 p.m. for a potty, she sleeps until we wake up around 4 or 5. Her vet check was clean, of course, and she was very well behaved while we were there. She never flinched when they were examining her, and went right along with anything they did. It gave the staff kind of a chuckle, really, how calm she was. They were making jokes about how she "needed to relax". Dr. Jerault and Nyssa at All4Paws just loved her to pieces. She also is really taking to the crate. During the day (my husband) leaves it open, and she goes in and out of it on her own. At night she goes right in when it's time for bed, and never complains. All in all, she is adjusting just fine, and we are really enjoying having her with us.

There will be more pictures soon, and hopefully some video, but for now I just wanted to send a short note to let you know how she's doing." Unquote

Pictures of Kona (above) and email sent by her family on 05/07/13: Quote "Just wanted to share some more photos of Kona. She is doing great, and we are having pretty good potty training success with treats and praise. We haven't used but a couple of pee pee pads—she would rather go outside. We went to the vet yesterday for her distemper booster. Again, she was very relaxed and well behaved, and didn't budge when getting her injection. Dr. J said we could increase her food a little, so we tried that last night. She seemed to be happy with this decision (of course). Next vet visit is in one month, for another distemper, a well check and bordetella vaccination. We try out flea/tick prevention later this week.

As you can see, her ears are trying to come up--this makes for some really cute pictures. Her facial expressions are so funny—especially when she is excited or wound up. She has changed so much just in a week—her legs are longer and her face is becoming more Sheltie-like. She is finding her voice more now, and has begun to growl and bark. And she doesn't seem to walk so much as she does prance or march (with authority, of course—very purposeful ;-) ), depending on what's going on in the house. She loves to inspect and "supervise" whatever we are doing. Sometimes she just sits down and studies everything around her. You can just see the wheels turning in her mind.

Anyways, wish I could share more pictures but sometimes it's hard to catch her being still long enough to get good ones. Hope to share more in the future, and hope you guys are all doing well." Unquote

Email sent by Kona's family on 06/04/13: Quote "hope all is well with you and your family. Just wanted to share a few photos of Kona. I had accumulated several over a couple of weeks to send you, but lost them when I upgraded phones. The ones you see here were taken yesterday.

She is doing well. Smart and playful girl. She is so much fun—we just love spoiling her and playing with her. Her vet visits have been good and she has done fine with her shots. The office staff at the vet loves to spoil her, so most of the time she is preoccupied with visiting and getting her treats instead of being nervous about being weighed and poked and prodded and given injections. She has visited my work and has several aunties who like to buy her presents. She is branching out at home now, starting to explore the larger back yard, and we have taken her on the trails behind the house. She likes car rides, and absolutely loves, loves, loves to play in and with….water. This was unexpected, but a treat nonetheless. If the shower is running and you open the door, she will run right in and play. She chases water from the handheld shower head and from the hose outside. She also loves to chase and bark at fireflies. She is also getting pretty good at playing Frisbee. She is a daredevil who loves to run and jump. We could not be happier with her and want to thank you again so much for allowing her to come into our home." unquote

Kona loves water so much that we decided to get a pool for her to play in. This was her first day with it. She had so much fun! She loved to lay down in the pool, biting the water and trying to bite the cartoons painted on the bottom of it--she would stick her whole face down in the water. It was so funny. She put her toys in the water, and picked up stray leaves off the ground and put them in there too. Just like a toddler. She would get a running start and then leap into the pool, then run right back out. We had a ball, watching her play. And she had a ball too. She was worn out by the time we called it a day. Slept great that night." unquote

Email and pictures below are from Kona's family on 12/30/13.....hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to share a few photos of Kona from Thanksgiving and Christmas. ........ (my daughter) brought her dog Joe--Kona's BFF. With so many pals Kona was pretty busy. My mom has a big fenced in yard, and Kona had her run of it. She had a ball. And was worn out every night, for sure. ........ Our vet's office actually invited Kona to be in the Apex Christmas parade this year, but the weather didn’t cooperate—it poured down rain—so we didn't get to go. Santa brought Kona some toys, a rawhide bone, and the Despicable Me 2 movie. She likes to watch television, believe it or not. I guess certain noises or movements must catch her eye. Anyways, enjoy the photos. Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. Happy New Year to you!" Unquote
